La Fontasse hostel

Calanques National Park

The place and how it works

The hostel is a protected site situated in the heart of the Calanques National Park, between Marseille and Cassis.

It welcomes travelers, families, hikers, climbers, schoolchildren, alpine clubs... who share a love or curiosity for nature.

It's not a party place but the view of the starry sky is worth all the disco balls in the world.

Children are happily welcome (see below, "other useful informations").

Rooms

Mixed shared dormitories of 8, 9 or 10 places, private rooms with 4 beds and 1 double room.

Fitted sheets and pillowcase are included as well as some blankets. You must bring your bed-linen or sleeping bag or rent a bed-linen (3 euros)

Electricity

USB sockets at reception for phones only, no wifi, no sockets in the rooms. Lights and sockets turn off at 10pm.

Times

The hostel is closed every day from 10am to 5pm (except the "luggage room" which remains open all day)

Kitchen

Shared kitchen with dishes, utensils, gas stoves for cooking. Italian coffee makers and refrigerated cupboard. No oven. Free drinking water.

Grocery store

A grocery store of local producers is available for snacks, lunches, dinners... Possibility to order your basket of products in advance or on site.

Bathrooms

No real showers, but large stone sinks that allow you to freshen up after a day outside. Bathrooms are non-mixed. No bath towels are provided.

Other useful informations

The hostel is a protected site, located in the Calanques National Park, which means that some rules and precautionary measures must be respected: no camping, no fires or candles, no listening to loud music, no use of drones... The national park regulations can be read via the link: https://www.calanques-parcnational.fr/en/regulations-land

The place is wild and isolated: no misbehaviors due to excess consumption of alcohol or other substances will be tolerated.

The hostel is closed between 10am and 5pm but a "luggage room" remains open all day to allow you to drop off your bags when you arrive so you can enjoy your day with a light back.

There is no heating but a fireplace heats up the hostel during Autumn and Winter.

Children under 4 years old can stay for free and sleep on a camp bed or in a baby cot in their parents' dormitory. Proof of age will be required.

It is not possible to come with your dog or other pet.
